Never before has the number of wineries from Piedmont been so high at Prowein in Düsseldorf, Germany’s most qualified and specialised wine fair: a total of 117 cellars – 13 from the province of Alessandria, 26 from Asti, 76 from Cuneo and 2 from Turin – will be showing their wines at the fair from the 13th to the 15th of March, coordinated by the Centro Estero per l’Internazionalizzazione (Ceipiemonte) by appointment of Cuneo Chamber of Commerce.
Of the 117 Piedmontese estates, 72 are participating with the Piemonte Land of Perfection Consortium which comprises the main Defence Consortia (Alta Langa, Asti, Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani, Brachetto d'Acqui, Barbera d'Asti and Vini del Monferrato, Consorzio Vini Doc Caluso Carema Canavese, Consorzio Vini Colli Tortonesi, Consorzio della Freisa di Chieri e Collina Torinese, Consorzio del Gavi, Consorzio del Roero and Vignaioli Piemontesi).
“Prowein kicks off a year full of appointments for the Piemonte Land team – says Giorgio Bosticco, chairman of Piemonte Land – Once again this year we are working together as a group: together we are a territory, now recognised as World Heritage by UNESCO, and a stronger economy. This is the role of Piemonte Land: “to form a system” optimising the resources available, with synergies and shared projects to tackle the challenges posed by globalisation in an organic and efficient way. Piedmont accounts for 6% of Italy’s overall wine production and exports 20% of the total (1 billion out of 5.3). These figures show us the importance of the work carried out by our producers in presenting our wines worldwide and seeking new spaces on the market ".
